How it Works
Cost
R400 for a 2-hour class Siblings are welcome to share class time at no extra fee, as long as we do the same content together.
Crafting Sessions, like Acrylic Pouring, Sculpting or Wand Making will have as additional cost for supplies.
Location & Times
Classes are held in the comfort of your home. I travel for class in Midrand, Centurion, Joburg and Pretoria.
Only the Wooden Sword classes are hosted at my personal workshop.
I recommend having class once a week for consistency and a way to encourage progress.
Art Supplies
Students may need to acquire some new stationery. A standard drawing kit needs to include a clutch pencil, lead, eraser, ink pen and sketchbook.
Some of the more specialized teens classes will need different extra supplies.
Homeschool Groups
Weekly classes can be created as requested. If your child is part of a small homeschool kids group, between 3 and 10 students that meet regularly at a house or center, we can start a class which the whole group can be a part of, regardless of age differences. A special monthly fee can be worked out depending on the size of the group.
Class Content
Which classes we do together depends entirely on what the child is interested in and what you as the parent/guardian would like for them to learn and focus on.
The goal is to guide students toward getting better at creating what they want to create, so they can feel happy and proud of whatever they make. Even if we need to draw Gabby’s Dollhouse characters or Spiderman 100 times, we can improve on planning, linework, shading, colour layering, and composition.
I let younger students dictate the pace at which we move through content and subjects, so that they never feel rushed or pressured to perform. Art comes from a place of love, curiosity and magic. Students who need patience and encouragement need to experience joy in creating something. Older students who feel stuck in their style or want to pursue a career in art will get a different style of teaching with more homework and critique, but never more than I feel they can handle and only what will drive them toward their own goals.
Carissa Gagashi
I am the drawing, painting and crafting teacher. I love every type of art, except scrapbooking because I did it too much as a kid. There is always a new style of form of creating to learn and it is a lot of fun sharing that with students.
I have been teaching drawing since 2014.
My favorite age group to teach is teenagers. But I also adore the little ones.
I am a Children’s Book Illustrator, Educational Illustrator, and I make Medieval clothing and weapons which I sell at geeky events around Gauteng.
